Obituary for RABECCA P. HANASIAN

Rabecca Peggy Hanasian, 93, long time resident of Royal Oak, MI., passed away on June 28, 2019 at Troy Beaumont Hospital.

She was born and raised in Detroit with her parents, Jack and Adrine (nee Terzagian) Hanasian, and later moved with her mother and siblings to Highland Park, MI. While on an extended visit to Fresno, CA with her sister Susan and staying with family friends, she attended high school and worked at a local bakery.

She then returned to Michigan to start her long career working clerical at the Internal Revenue Service in Detroit and from where she retired. During this time she loved to travel, once touring Europe with friends from work.

Upon retirement she became a loving caregiver for her mother. Their home became a place of many extended family get-togethers. In fact, family was always first and foremost in her thoughts and cares to the end of her life. In turn, Rabecca, known to everyone as Peggy, was truly loved by her family and many friends.

Later during retirement, she along with her two sisters Susan and Rose would converse daily by phone and together became consummate fans of the QVC shopping channel. It was a connection and pastime that would last until the untimely illnesses and deaths of her two younger sisters, events that affected her greatly.

She spent the last years of her life at Arbor Inn Assisted Living in Warren and later at the Cherrywood Nursing Care Center (later Pomeroy) in Sterling Heights where she was skillfully (and patiently!) cared for until her sudden fatal illness. It was always said among her sisters that “Peggy will outlive us all!” It proved to be true.
