ARAM KAKOUSIAN

Aram Kakousian peacefully passed away in Garden City Hospital on November 18, 2022, with his beloved wife by his side. Born in Kessab, Syria, on April 26, 1934, he was the son of Hovsep and Sarah (nee Chelebian)  Kakousian.  A devout Christian family, his father was a deacon in the church. While receiving his education in school, Aram began training as a cabinet maker, which became his life’s career.

 In search of more freedom and opportunities, Aram emigrated from his homeland in 1967 and arrived in Galt, Canada, where he met his future wife, Alice Mesrobian. Moving to Detroit in 1968, the happy couple pledged their marriage vows in the Armenian Congregational Church. As the years passed, Aram followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Deacon and a Trustee of the church.

 Aram was noted for his sincere friendship and kind personality.  Helping in the church and extending a hand to those in need overseas, back in his homeland, were always prominent in his mind.

 Meanwhile, in his leisure time, Aram and Alice enjoyed life together, supporting the church and community, and taking wonderful vacations to visit relatives in Canada. Most overwhelming, however, was the trip they made to Armenia, to personally set foot on our historic soil.

FUNERAL SERVICE

In State November 26, 2022, Saturday, 12 Noon in Armenian Congregational Church, 26210 W. 12 Mile Road, Southfield, MI with Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit.

MEMORIAL DONATIONS

The family requests that Memorial Donations be sent to either the Armenian Congregational Church, or to the AMAA (Armenian Missionary Association of America)
