AZADUHE VARTANIAN Obituary

Azaduhe "Alice" Vartanian was born in Massena, New York on April12, 1922. She was the oldest of four children born to Markar and Mariam (Hachigan) Bagian. The family moved to Detroit, in the warm Armenian Community of Delray, where she graduated from Southwestern High School. Azaduhe married Nick Vartanian on January 29, 1949. They lived in Detroit and raised their three children there: Norman, Arthur and Cheryl, who unfortunately passed away in 1967. In later years, the family lived in Dearborn Heights. Azaduhe loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She took pleasure in cooking delicious Armenian specialties for her family. She was also a very devoted member of the AYF, the ARS Sybille Chapter and St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church. She took on many leadership roles and was always the first to volunteer to serve her beloved church and organizations, all the while holding a full time job working at Reliance Insurance Company. She attended church regularly and traveled to several conventions as an elected delegate. Azaduhe twice visited the homeland of Armenia; once with her father and once with her husband. Faithful to her Armenian Heritage, Azaduhe never forgot the pain of the Genocide. Blessed with two grandchildren, Rachel and Matthew, Azaduhe also instilled Armenian values and culture in them. Even though she was challenged in later years, Azaduhe remained steadfast to her Armenian heritage. She will be greatly missed by all...............
