DOREEN MADELYN SARKISIAN

Doreen Madelyn Sarkisian passed away in St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital, December 3, 2019, with her loving husband by her. Born in Dearborn, Michigan on February 5, 1954, she was the youngest of 5 sisters and 2 brothers born to John and Estelle (nee Podlesney) Narkun. After graduating from St. Ladislaus High School, she entered the work force. Among them, she worked as the manager of an apartment building and later as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office.Doreen had admirable abilities and talents, too. She participated as a long distance runner in a successful league. She excelled as a master gardener, winning certification as a Master Gardener from the Hidden Lakes Gardens, a 755 acre botanical garden and an arboretum operated by Michigan State University situated in the Irish Hills. The Gardens are known for their large collection of native and nonnative trees, shrubs and flowers. by far one of the most beautiful hidden gems Michigan has to offer. Notably, Doreen excelled as a gourmet cook. She expanded her fine cooking skills by learning the delicious recipes of traditional Armenian cuisine from her mother-in-law.Marrying Greg, they enjoyed life together with their memorable Caribbean cruises to the islands of St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. Martens and Puerto Rico.Doreen will be lovingly remembered for her happy spirit, which always made people smile.FAMILY MEMBERSDoreen M. Sarkisian is the beloved wife of Greg Curtiss Sarkisian. She was the youngest of 5 sisters and 2 brothers and had many other relatives and friends. SARKIS ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH, 19300 FORD ROAD, DEARBORN, MI, ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2019, FROM 9:00AM UNTIL TIME OF FUNERAL SERVICE AT 10:OOAM. INTERMENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN GREAT LAKES NATIONAL CEMETERY, HOLLY, MI.
