Dorothy Varsenig Sarkisian, passed away peacefully August 30 at age 93. She was born February 12, 1927, to Armenian genocide-surviving parents, Mugerdich and Mariam (nee Bazoian) Krikorian. Like so many of her generation, she helped the family endure the Great Depression and fought WW-II's homeland battles of re-cycling and sacrifice. She married Andrew Vartan Sarkisian in 1955 and became a fully dedicated mother and homemaker. They raised their family in Allen Park, where she instilled education and family values. She was an extraordinarily dedicated daughter, caring for her widowed mother for over 20 years.Dorothy and her husband followed their children and grandchildren to Lake Sherwood, in Commerce Township, in the mid 1990s. Their house backed-up to Kendall Park, where they enjoyed watching their grandchildren play and enjoyed watching the animal life in the park. She practiced golf in the park without risk to neighbor's property (her frail build was only good for 50 yards). She fed stray animals and often took injured wild life to the veterinarian clinic, believing firmly that God put us on Earth to care for the innocent animals. Dorothy was a passionate animal lover, golf enthusiast, and avid seamstress. She deeply loved her grandchildren. Her pride in her grandchildren was without end. In her ailing years, her grandchildren honored her with all the time they could muster. Also, she found an angel, Janet Von Behren, who helped her enjoy her final years and give her purpose. Dorothy's family is deeply gracious to Janet, and her family, for sharing time with her and enriching her life with friendship, shopping trips, and social activities. The Sarkisian family thanks all the people who gave of their time and love to Dorothy. She enjoyed being a member of Milford's Red Hat society. The frequent kindness and thoughtfulness of her neighbor's daughter, Savannah Foster, meant so much to her. The staffs at Waltonwood independent living and Cranberry Park assisted living are angels on Earth. Her last week was spent in the care of the most touching professionals at Henry Ford West Bloomfield.FAMILY MEMBERSBeloved children, Gloria Hughes (Tom) and Andy Sarkisian (Sharon).
