Everyone in this life should be as blessed as I have been. But to have been granted a most perfect life by the grace of God and extraordinary parents creates an overwhelming challenge. When you lose your parents the landscape dramatically and irrevocably changes. How do you reconcile losing so much, their spirited presence, their unconditional love, their unrelenting support, their consistent faith in your ability to achieve whatever your heart's desire.Deep gratitude and deep sadness is the double-edged sword we live with. Everything from now on is met with this dual reality. Painful, permanent, yet promising. For my responsibility becomes returning their favor. By remembering them, celebrating them, among members of the Armenian community they so loved, keeps their enduring spirit alive. Kelly and Frances Yakmalian's long and arduous journey has ended. They are both with God now . . . of this I am certain. Kelly Yakmalian was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1923 to Kegham and Zarouhi Yakmalian. Frances Yakmalian was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada in 1924 to Aghajan and Verkin Papazian. After meeting and marrying in 1949 their lifetime commitment was to their two children, Karen and Karney Yakmalian. Dad and Mom each were born of extremely loving parents, thus the blueprint for emanating that kind of love and commitment had already been established in their own life experience.My parents had a deep and abiding regard for their Armenian heritage. Rooted in the religious, cultural, and political aspects of our rich history via their respective families, Mom and Dad quietly and conservatively lived those values. This is their farewell to all who remember them. Thank you for indulging me in this journey, bringing Mom and Dad along in spirit, to help me reconnect with a most admirable Armenian Community.Unbreak this heart, uncry these tears . . . this becomes our eternal challenge.
