HARRY SHAGHOIAN

Harry Shaghoian passed away June 4, 2019, in his Clawson, MI home , with his family around him. Born in Highland Park, MI on December 1, 1924, he was the son of proud Vanetzi parents, Haih and Roxy (nee Hagbarian) Shaghoian. Graduating from Detroit,s Central High School, Harry entered the US Army to defend hjis country in World War Two. As a crack Rifleman, he was shipped to Central Europe, where he fought in the Argonne and the infamous Battle of the Bulge. Receiving the Victory Medal, at the end of the war, Harry was posted as a guard in the famous Nuremburg Trail of the high ranking Nazi war criminals. Coming home after his tour of duty, he cried upon seeing the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor.He met Alice Gurunian at the cottage in Lexington, MI. On their second date, Harry proposed marriage and they were married in 1948. Blessed with the birth of their two daughters, they had a very happy marriage for 68 years. A hard working man, Harry managed his own successful shoe repair shop for over 50years, and provided well for his family.A kind hearted man, as an avid sports fan, Harry enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and hockey. He didn't require much to make him happy. All he needed was to have the love of his family.FAMILY MEMBERSHarry was the loving husband of his wife, Alice; Dearest father of Kathy Shaghoian and Carol (Mike) Debay; Cherished grandfather of Anthony and Christopher Debay; Dear bother of Sarah (the late Eugene) Molly, Roxy (Ara) Gharibian; Brother-in-law of Dorothy (the late Joe) Gallo; Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTSIn State June 11, 2019, Tuesday from 10am until time of Funeral Service at 11am in St. John Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI.MEMORIAL DONATIONSThe family suggests memorials be sent to St. John Armenian ChurchCONDOLENCESClick on "Share a Memory" and leave a loving remembrance/condolence or the family.THANK YOU
