JACK W. ZIMMERMAN

Jack William Zimmerman , born May 16, 1930. Predeceased by his parents Fred John Zimmerman, Anna Bohstedt Zimmerman , and infant sister Jean. Survived by his spouse Jessie Zimmerman and his daughter Lisa Zimmerman Werny (Douglas) and grandsons Alexander Douglas Werny and Adam Zimmerman Werny. Also survived by step-son Jeff Black,and his family. Close relatives include niece Barbara (Albert) Villarreal, her children Darren (Nancy) Villerreal, Janet Villerreal, Fred (Marveen) Villerreal, John Villerreal and their respective children. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Jack and his family moved to Ferndale, Michigan at the age of three. Jack attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Ferndale High School, and earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Wayne State University He was also a longtime member of the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon where he was elevated to "Grandfather TKE" status and enjoyed their reunions and golf outings.. A veteran of the Korean War, he luckily served his time in Germany , involved with radio repair and transmission. His lifetime career at the General Motors Technological Center in Warren, Michigan was highly interesting. Starting as a research chemist at the Paint and Plastic Research division, he helped develop the fiber glass for the Corvette ( of which he was the proud owner of many !), the development of the ELPO (Electrodeposition of Polymers , which is still in use to this day. , and then moved on to a distinguished career at GM Legal Staff as the expert witness for flammability and combustion... of which he retired with a career of winning every case he took to court. After retirement from GM, he continued as an expert witness in the capacity of a consultant with his own company Fireco Analysis. He was delighted to continue his work with his former company and also became an expert witness in chemical dryer fires around the United States. Jack was a consummate athlete, who excelled and competed in golf, skiing, and tennis his entire life until recent years. He was an avid traveler, following the snow and the sun to enjoy his sporting activities. In later years, he and his wife became Snowbirds, enjoying their lovely condo and friendships in Venice , Florida where they spent six months of the year when not at their home in Bloomfield Hills. Jack , more than anything, had an insatiable quest for knowledge, especially the realms of science pertaining to Space and Ancient History. His philosophical discussions of Life and of how the World should peacefully coexist and strive for the betterment of Mankind were an integral part of who he was . These integrity based beliefs were how he approached his life and work. They also instilled a wonderful deep basis for appreciating the Wonder of Life for his daughter and grandsons.,,,,,,,,,FAMILY MEMBERS AND INFORMATION Jack William Zimmerman , born May 16, 1930.
