JEANETTE STEPANIAN Obituary

Jeanette "Jae" "Yaya" (Avedisian) Stepanian, passed away Monday the 12th of August in her Bloomfield Hills home and in the company of loved ones.Born to Misak and Nazanig Avedisian and in 1932 in Detroit, Jae was the youngest of her sisters Dorothy Churukian and the late Lillian Elledge. Jae attended Central High School in Detroit and on April 8, 1951 she married the late James Askanaz Stepanian. Together Jae and James raised their four children, Nancy Stepanian-Bennett (Pat), Karen Beer (late John), Bobby Stepanian (Cindy) and Kathy Albertson (Bill).Jae worked at the Bloomfield Township Public Library for over 19 years, continuing through this past April. She will forever be considered family by the entire library community. Jae also had a commitment to volunteering and community involvement, working decades' worth of elections for Bloomfield Township and volunteering countless hours of service at Pine Lake Cemetery. Jae was an avid Detroit sports fan and rarely missed a Tigers or Red Wings broadcast.Above all else, Jae's passion in life was centered on family. Jae was beloved as "Auntie Jae" to many nieces, nephews, grand- and great-grand nieces/nephews and was the iconic "Yaya" to her eleven grandsons, one granddaughter, eight great-grandchildren and dear friends who became family. She delighted in and loved them all-and never forgot a single birthday. It is difficult to overstate the strength of Yaya's presence in the life of everyone she met.
