Louise “Purastan” Matigian passed away peacefully in her sleep March 27, 2023, at the age of 97. The daughter of Armenag and Haiganoush (nee, Derbabian) Matigian, she was born June 12, 1925, in Detroit. She successfully completed her education and graduated from Western High School. Louise began working as a file clerk on the new shorthand machine at the Cadillac Motor Car Company main office on Clark Street.
But, at age twenty-two, she got sick and spent the rest of her life in hospitals and care facilities. Although Louise lived apart from the family for many years, she was never far from their thoughts and prayers. Her family remained helpful and caring for her the rest of her life.
Her spirit continued to shine like bright sunshine. Louise had a beautiful singing voice, and every morning she sang for the enjoyment of those around her. Just like her spirit, her voice was wonderfully sweet.
Notably, she loved babies and had gleeful laughter. With deep faith, Louise lived in Christ and often spoke of teaching Sunday School.
Her loved ones will miss her, but will always remember her.
FAMILY MEMBERS
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Armenag and Haiganoush, who had married in Ghavraz, Sepastia, in historic Armenia. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, who will miss gathering together for her yearly birthday celebrations.
