Lucy Kashishian passed away from complications of Covid-19 on August 12, 2020. Born in Detroit on December 15, 1923, she was the daughter of Boghos and Sultan (nee Nazarian) Zartarian of Pontiac,MI. Her parents couldn't speak English, but Lucy made them proud during her school years by being an excellent student and earning, among other distinctions, a spot in the National Honor Society. Lucy would later forgo college scholarships in order to care for her aging parents. After marrying Mike Kashishian in 1949, they continued to live and care for her parents until their last days.Mike and Lucy were blessed with the birth of two children - Barbara in 1950, and Kirk in 1958. Through their 67 year marriage, they were never apart. Summer family vacations were a must. Piling into the car and driving to Florida, with a stop in the Smokies, was the usual route.Over the many years, Lucy, with her beautiful voice, was sought after to sing at many Armenian affairs. Her pride in being Armenian was unmatched! When the music started, Lucy could not sit still; she would get up, get in the line and dance to the very end. Lucy loved life, her family and her friends. She and Mike instilled that same Armenian pride in their two children. We hope that Lucy and Mike are now dancing together in heaven.FAMILY MEMBERSShe was the daughter of the late Boghos and Sultan Zartarian of Pontiac, MI.
