Margaret Arslanian, age 94, passed away in Milford, Michigan on February 19, 2022. She was born in Detroit in 1927 to Misak and Vartanoush Garabedian (Boghosian). Devoted wife of the late Ralph, loving mother to Armene (Jan Johnson) Kaye, Marilyn Mouradjian (Ed) Childers, Karen Mouradjian, Kathleen (George) Bolton, Rick (Gloria) Arslanian, and Michael Arslanian. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Anthony (Ashley) Bolton, Greg (Katie) Bolton, Katie (Adrian) De La Cruz and Anna Arslanian. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Violet Bolton, Maya and Salvador De La Cruz. She was also known as the “Cool Aunt Margaret” to Cynthia (Tom) Rutherford, Debra (Larry) Croff and Samuel (Katherine) Antonian. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Margo Mouradjian, her parents, sisters Mary Antonian and Esther Sokasian and nephews Peter and Michael Mardirosian.
Margaret worked as a clerk in the Controller’s Office for the City of Dearborn Heights until she retired in 1988. She was an ardent AFL-CIO union supporter and was the secretary for her local union. She enjoyed traveling, canning vegetables from the garden, and making her special potato salad and Jell-O desserts for family gatherings. She was known to dance around the living room to her favorite Armenian records. She was feisty and a force to be reckoned with, and a self-proclaimed “women’s libber” from the 1970’s. She brought life to the party and her out-going personality was an inspiration to all that knew and loved her.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place with services and a celebration of life scheduled at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
