MARGARET SURMANIAN

Margaret Surmanian peacefully passed away in her room in Allen Park on November 12, 2020. Born in Detroit, she was the daughter of Sarkis and Mary (nee Gangian) Vartanian. Growing up in the close-knit Armenian community of Delray with her brother Richard and sister Ruth, she graduated from Southwestern High School as an esteemed member of the National Honor Society. In 1942 she began her career as a clerk in the railroad industry, working in the Historic Michigan Central Station.She married Steve Surmanian and became a dutiful wife and loving mother of three children, Martin, Richard and Karyn. The family was happy to enjoy life together with Sunday dinners and vacation trips to sunny Florida. Margaret was a loyal fan of the Red Wings, personally attending all home games or watching out-of-town games on TV.As the years went by, she was blessed with the birth of her two grandchildren, Dayna and Chucky, whom she adored. Margaret Surmanian leaves her family and friends with a legacy of love, affection and happy memories.FAMILY MEMBERSHer late husband, Steve Surmanian; Beloved children, Martin Surmanian, Richard Surmanian, Karyn & Chuck Danyo; Cherished grandchildren, Dayna Danyo and Chucky Danyo.
