Marguerite Rose Mouradian, affectionately known as “Rosie”, unexpectedly passed to her eternal life on February 21, 2024. She was known for her fun-loving & carefree ways, optimism & happiness. Her talents included interior design, handwriting analysis, and exceptional culinary skills. She was known for her kind & generous ways. She made friends effortlessly & never wanted to miss out on any activity.
Rosie was born in the Delray district of Detroit, MI on March 8, 1932 to Takvor & Helen Hachigian, the baby of the family. As a young girl, legend has it, that she was out playing hopscotch while her older siblings, Barbara, Onnig and Annie, were given responsibilities at the family grocery store. She graduated from Cass Tech High School in 1949, studying fashion design, hoping to become famous on the New York circuit. But that was not in God’s plan. The Hachigian clan was closely aligned by friendship with the Mouradian family. Once Rosie came of age, she was love-struck by the dashing George Mouradian. She immediately knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him; so, boldly, she asked him to take her to the prom. Rosie’s mother, Helen, gladly approved, so their marriage took place at the iconic Hye Getron in 1950. They enjoyed seventy-three treasured years together, even moving to California for 5 years. Along the way, they were blessed with 3 children, Michele (Peter) Mnatzakanian, Anita (Terry) Granger, & Vaughn (Kathy) Mouradian. Rosie shared many good times with her in-laws, Vahan, Elmas and dear sister-in-law Alice. These adventurous marital years included quality time with friends & family, church fellowship, traveling around the world, including Spain, Rome, Armenia, Lebanon & Israel. In their early years they drove their 1948 Pontiac Torpedo to Alaska and lived there for a summer in 1951.
She obtained an interior design certificate from the LaSalle University, and was employed at the Metropolitan Furniture store in Allen Park for a while, utilizing her design skills.
She was a stalwart member of St. Sarkis Armenian Church, and was considered a “Varbed” of the church baking group. She belonged to the Fellowship Club and was instrumental in the first remodel of the Lillian Arakelian church hall. She was well respected and unofficially known for making the best choreg in the community. Rosie will be missed by many beloved friends & family members.
