Marie V. "Rose" Megregian, age 99, peacefully passed away last Sunday with her family present. Fondly known as Miss Rose, she was a renowned piano teacher for hundreds of young students, recently in Northern Michigan and earlier in Dearborn. As noted in an article about her in the Traverse City Record Eagle on 11/25/2009, she coupled a "gentle manner with exacting standards and a thorough knowledge of both music and young minds, all combining to spark a lifelong love of music in her students." "She loved kids and shared with them her love of the piano."Her Armenian family fled to the United States from Turkey in 1922 when she was 18 months old. She grew up in the Detroit area. For 55 years she was the beloved wife of the late Michael Megregian, who passed away in 1996. They lived in Dearborn and Bloomfield Hills; and then retired to their vacation home in Antrim County. She will be remembered for her joy, her creative knitting and painting, her fabulous cooking and baking, and the love she shared with all. She showed us how to rejoice in all the beauty that life offers. FAMILY MEMBERSShe is survived by her children Mark (Rev. Patricia) Megregian, Ronald (Kay) Megregian, Armen (Angela) Megregian.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many Papazian, Daghlian, and Megregian families, relatives and friends. ARRANGEMENTSThere will be a private family funeral service on Friday with interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit. MEMORIAL DONATIONSThe family suggests memorial donations be given to the Traverse City Music Boosters (traversecitymusicboosters.com) or sent to St. John Armenian Church, 22001 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI 48075.
