Mary Antonian, age 94, passed away on May 27, 2020. She was born in Detroit in 1926 to Misak and Vartanoush Garabedian (Boghosian). Beloved wife of the late Robert, devoted mother of Cynthia (Tom) Rutherford, Debra (Larry) Croff and Samuel (Katherine) Antonian. Loving grandmother of Bryan (Elizabeth) Hager, Stephanie (Chad) Scott, Meghann (Brad Wakefield) Rutherford, Alexandra (Daniel) Thornton and Nicklas Antonian, and the late Jessica Croff. Proud great-grandmother of Maverick, Olive, Serenity, Willow, Journey, Rowan, and Aspen. Loving sister of Margaret Arslanian and the late Esther Sokasian, aunt to nieces Marilyn (Ed) Childers, Armene (Jan Johnson-Kaye) Kaye and Karen Mouradjian. "Mama" to Christiane Melkonian and "grandma" to Stephen Melkonian.Mary retired as a secretary for the State of Michigan. In addition to her devotion to her family, she was a lifelong active member of St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Women's Society. Her passion was baking, she made custom birthday and wedding cakes, handmade chocolates and authentic Armenian foods and pastries. Mary loved music and dancing, as a young person she was known as the "jitterbug" queen.FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTSA private, immediate family only funeral will be held at VA Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI, She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Bob. A commemorative service will be held in the future.MEMORIAL DONATIONSIn lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church.
