Arshalois Mary Torossian, lovingly known as Mary, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Clarkston, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 15, 1927, in Highland Park, Michigan, Mary lived a life filled with love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Mary was a sweetheart of a woman, cherished by all who knew her for her warm heart and very strong-willed spirit. She attended college and found her true calling as the manager of a dental office—a role she embraced with pride and skill, running the office smoothly with grace and dedication.
Her artistic talents were boundless; Mary delighted in arts and crafts of all kinds, nurturing creativity not only within herself but within those fortunate enough to share in her passion. She was widely known as the best cook ever, with her Armenian dishes elevated to a true art form, passing on family culinary traditions made with love.
Among Mary’s proudest accomplishments was maintaining her beloved cottage in Caseville, Michigan, and her winter condo in Sanibel Island, Florida. These places were treasured family havens where many joyful memories were created during vacations. She also loved traveling all over the country with her family, to all over Michigan, to Boston, Florida, and California. The warmth of those experiences, including winters spent in Sanibel Island and summers at the cottage, remain etched in the hearts of her family.
In 1948, Mary married her beloved husband, Harry Torossian, at St. John Armenian Church in Detroit, Michigan. They shared many cherished years together until his passing. Mary was also predeceased by her daughter, Janis Hayes, her parents, Joseph and Diroohi Kaladjian, her brother, Jim, and sister, Annie.
Mary leaves behind a devoted son, Thomas (Lynn) Torossian, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Also surviving are her son-in-law, David Hayes; her granddaughters, Lindsay (Bob) and Lauren (Kie); her grandsons, Michael (Brianne) and Jason (Nicole); and seven great-grandchildren whose lives she deeply touched.
Mary was just a lovely lady—strong, artistic, and full of life. Her presence enriched the lives around her, her memory a lasting blessing. Those who knew her will hold close the many gifts she gave: her steady love, her artistic spirit, her extraordinary cooking, and the precious moments shared in family laughter and travel.
As we say goodbye to Mary, we remember a life beautifully lived, a heart generously shared, and a woman whose sweet and steadfast nature made the world a better place. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
