Sandra “Sandy” Avedian, age 96, passed away in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, on June 5, 2022. She was born on May 23, 1926 in Detroit to Nazaret and Nevart (Vartabedian) Halajian. Receiving her education, she graduated from Southwestern High School.
Prior to marrying Gabriel Avedian, at the age of 23, she worked at D.J. Healy, noted in Detroit as a high end women’s fashion clothing shop, whose flagship store was on Woodward Avenue in an Art Deco building in downtown Detroit. This is where she developed a great sense of style and fashion which continued throughout her life, becoming an avid home shopping queen, especially with the home shopping network.
Sandy was a homemaker for many years. She loved good food, especially Armenian food, which in her opinion was based in her mother’s kitchen.
When she became widowed, she enjoyed spending adventurous times with her older sister, who became her “partner in crime”. They loved to venture out for coffee and breakfast in the late hours of the night, just sitting for hours talking and laughing.
Sandy also enjoyed spending time with her family on trips to Saugatuck for a “girls outing”.
