STELLA "Oslo" TIAN

Stella "Oslo" Manoogian Tian was born in Detroit Michigan on Saturday, May 19, 1934, to the proud parents of Zakar & Mary Manoogian. She was the little sister of Michael and Elizabeth. Stella enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in the Armenian community and across the street from Clark Park. She graduated from Western High School, in Detroit, where she was a member of the High School tennis team. Stella married Jack Tian in August 1954, and they became proud parents to Aaron, Manse & Dawn. Stella was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Through the years, Stella never lost her passion for tennis, visiting tournaments and playing several times a week. Once off the court - then to the Tennis channel- she was on the family TV to the delight of those around her. As the grandchildren came, Stella's role changed. She became a loving and nurturing grandmother to Steven, Jack, Alex, Katie, Sarah and Keagan. Stella was always willing to listen to your problems, extend advice, and rarely complained. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards & board games (Monopoly!). Anytime the family was together, a game of Phase 10 or Monopoly could be found. Stella always seemed to be on the winning end, which infuriated the grandchildren. One of the grandchildren coined the phrase "grandma cheats". But the games didn't stop, they just became more competitive with loving eyes watching grandma's every move. As her children, we often joked - suspected that Mom had favorites: favorite son-in law Anthony (Tony), daughter Dawn, and son Aaron, (Stella's first born). Our Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt & Friend will be missed but not forgotten. Stella was a handful, but she had a lot of love to share, and a smile on her face.FAMILY MEMBERSBeloved wife of the late Jack Tian. Also many other relatives and friends.ARRANGEMENTS In accord with their mother's request, the family has arranged a private funeral service.
