Susie Ossanna Arakelian peacefully passed away June 22, 2019 in Manoogian Manor, Livonia, MI, She was born Sessette Ossanna Kefsizian on May 10, 1922 in Highland Park, MI. Her parents were Loghfet and Pepron Kefsizian. Susie had 3 siblings, Lorrie, Patricia and Gregory..At the age of three she lost her mother to Pneumonia; her father remarried; Loghfet and Rose had three children Edward, Victoria and Alice. Susie lived with them for 14 years. At the age of 17, she married Haroutun (George) Arakelian, and together they had four children, Gregory (Tamara) both deceased, Rosemarie ( Jim Pryor deceased), Patricia - deceased, Lorrie (David) Haydon. She has 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Holly) Lewis, Mark Lewis - deceased, Roger Lewis, Mary (Larry) Skiles, Paul (Liz) Arakelian, Lynette Arakelian, Phillip (Tammy) Arakelian, Sessette (Matthew) Stamm, Christine (Brandon) Crawford, Kathleen Haydon. Susie had 14 great grandchildren and more on the way. She had eight nieces and nephews.Susie and George lived in Michigan for 45 years and were very active in the Armenian Community. They were members of St. Sarkis Church; Susie was a member of ARS for over 55 years. She volunteered for the Red Cross and worked as a volunteer at Pontiac General Hospital.Due to her husband's health they moved to Florida in 1984. While living in Florida they were active in the Armenian community and were members of St. Gregory Armenian Church, where Susie made the mahs for 10 years until she returned to Michigan.Susie and George were married 51 years until George passed away in 1991.Susie returned to Michigan in 1999 where she resided at the Armenian Senior Citizens Towers. She was active in the St. Sarkis Women's Guild, where she would prepare many Armenian dishes with the ladies for the church bazaar.Armenian cooking was surly Susie's passion in life along with entertaining family and friends. She was taught by her mother-in-law, Mariam, who she dearly loved and cherished.After a sever fall, which resulted in a having a broken hip, Susie decided she needed to give up her apartment, where she lived for 8 enjoyable years, and moved to Manoogian Manor, where she was treated as a queen for 11 years. The wonderful staff took such great care of her and she loved her time there. Points of Interest: Worked with her husband in the family business (Wolverine wrecking and lumber). She was active in running the business; she worked with the customers and took care of the accounting; the business was in Pontiac, Michigan. From 1974 to1984 she worked at Brae Burn Nursing Home as the Housekeeping Supervisor.Susie was a woman of God, her faith in Our Lord and Savior was her strength. She praised Him for her beautiful life.VISITATIONJuly 1, 2019. Monday from5pm to 8pm in St. Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church, 19300 Ford Road, Dearborn, with Dan Gark prayers at 7:30pmFUNERALJuly 2, 2019, Tuesday 11am in the church.
