Violet peacefully passed away in her home on May 13, 2023, with her loving son and daughter next to her. She was born in Detroit, the oldest daughter of Alexan and Azniv (nee Margosian) Kachadourian. As a young girl she helped her mother raise her 5 sisters after her father passed away.
A beautiful person inside and out, her mother said Violet had the prettiest pnootioun (prettiest disposition). Violet was always inquisitive, interested in learning and, as proof of those fine attributes, was Valedictorian of her high school class.
She met Henry Dirasian at a softball game. She must have won his heart as he would take 2 buses to visit her during their courtship. After graduation from Southwestern High School, she began working at Michigan Bell Telephone Company and soon was offered the position of supervisor. She left her job to become a mother to three children, while supporting her husband as he pursued his doctorate. The family enjoyed many trips up North and a cross country road trip West, visiting many national parks and landmarks along the way. Sadly, her marriage to Hank was cut short upon his passing in 1974.
An exceptional cook, she took joy in hosting family gatherings and Holiday parties. Her Armenian culinary skills were shared with and enjoyed by many family members and friends.
While pursuing her lifelong love of bridge, she encountered a fellow bridge player, Marty Madvin, who she married in 1988. They shared many travel experiences as members of the Nomads Travel Club and also were frequently found attending Tiger baseball games. She easily became a loving member of the extended Madvin family and continued to be part of the family even after Marty’s passing in 2018.
Violet radiated positivity and grace. Her strength and faith served her well throughout her life. She will be missed by her family and all of those who were blessed to have her as part of their life.
