Obituary for ALIN DULGER

Alin Dulger was born in Istanbul, Turkey March 2nd, 1935. Her mother, Maryam Kuyumcuyan, and father, Vahram Kuyumcuyan, raised their daughter in a loving home, giving her a wonderful childhood full of nurturing, piano lessons and studying the French language.

After graduating from Notre Dame de Sion high school in Istanbul at the age of 17, two Armenian families privately met to unite Alin to Garo Dulger in marriage. A lavish wedding ensued and Garo and Alin went on to become loving parents to Harutyun and Tamar by 1963. In 1974, Garo, decided to give his family a safer future by emigrating to Detroit, Michigan from Turkey.

Alin continued her devotion to her family in America, taking care of all the needs of her husband and two children as a homemaker in the Dulger household. Her skill in cooking the delicacies, which she learned from her mother, keeping a spotless home and devoting herself to her family created an ideal environment for everyone to have a loving home life.

Alin loved taking care of her family; she also loved watching her soap operas and talking with her best friend Consuelo, who lived across the street. She loved Sunday dinners with our beloved Jarian family, and Friday night Pizza dinners with loving neighbors, the Metzoians. Alin loved telling and listening to funny stories and sometimes laughing hard enough to turn herself beet red. You couldn't help but laugh along with her.

Alin lost her father, and then her mother, within the next 6 years, which devastated her for several years. In 1989, she embraced her first grandchild and in the next 6 years was blessed by three more loving grandchildren. In 2008, Aline lost her husband Garo and became a widow. She mostly led a fairly healthy life but in 2010 started showing symptoms of Parkinson’s and ultimately was stricken down by Alzheimer's by the year 2013.

Although her disease progressed, her two children devoted themselves to taking care of her needs at home and not relying on a nursing facility. Alin spent her final years at home being loved and nurtured by her son and daughter and by her two loving caregivers, Charlene and Jennifer, who became like family to her. Her children provided her with daily attention, loads of love, kisses and wonderfully prepared dishes.

Alzheimer's ultimately took a toll on her frail body and she passed away on September 5th, 2018 at Beaumont hospital in Dearborn.

Alin is survived by her son Harutyun, daughter Tamar, son in law Daron, grand children Bianca, Julian, Carina and Remy, family members Adrine, Alice and Perry Jarian, and their daughters, Patricia and Susie, her Godmother Shake and family Zarmine and Torkom Zabunyan; and Alin was a Godmother to their children Dikran and Karin.
