Obituary for GEORGE "Krekor" TOROSIAN

George Krekor Torosian of Hazel Park, MI, spent his final days surrounded by his loving family and passed away in Las Vegas, NV on December 7, 2017. George was born in Highland Park, MI on August 2, 1931 to Bedros & Mariam and older brother John. George was raised in Highland Park and continued to live in the area until December of 2016 when he moved to Las Vegas full time. He belonged to St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Dearborn, MI and spent his adult years at the many dances, picnics and services. After he retired from the Metropolitan Cab Co. as an owner/operator you could find him at the Hazel Park Race Track where he was well known by all.
George was a loving and devoted uncle to his brother John & sister in-law Angel's five children; Mary Margaret Torosian, Rose Linares (Manny), John Torosian (Deserie), Mark Torosian (Julie), & Carol Pool.
George always spent the winter months with family; in NJ he stayed with John & Angel and especially enjoyed all the great Armenian meals Angel prepared. As his great-nephews and great-nieces were born, he would spend the winter with his nephew John his wife Deserie, and their children Johnny, Jimi & Jessica in Thousand Oaks, CA. Then he would stop off in Las Vegas for a few weeks and stay with his nephew Mark and his wife Julie, and their four children Justin, Brandan, Faith and Luke, or with his niece Mary, or niece Carol and her daughter Madison.
When he moved to Las Vegas full time he lived with his niece Mary Margaret. She was his devoted caregiver until the end. In Las Vegas, George belonged to St. Geragos Armenian Church. He was a man of little means but one who would give you the shirt off his back. George touched our lives and will be missed. ......PRIVATE BURIAL in Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan......ARRANGEMENTS in the care of SIMON JAVIZIAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS 248-626-7815.......PLEASE LEAVE a loving remembrance of George here for the family and friends to see.. .I'll Remember you when I've forgotten all the rest.
You to me were true; You to me were the best.
When I'm all alone in the great unknown,
I'll Remember you.
I'll Remember you at the end of the trail;
When the roses fade, and I’m in the shade,
I'll Remember you
It was you who came right through;
It was you who understood, my dear sweet friend,
I'll Remember You.
